Permanent Corral Additions at Horseriders' Campground, Palmyra WI
The Southern Kettle Moraine Horse Trails Association (SKMHTA) would like to extend their appreciation to the Wisconsin Horse Council for awarding the 2025 Trail Improvement Grant, in the amount of $3000, to our 2025 Corral Installation project!  This grant, combined with funds raised by the SKMHTA via fundraising events such as our Ride for Corrals and Fall Fundraiser, as well as donations from corporate sponsors and private donors, allowed us to install 20 new 12x12' corrals! We would also like to thank Julie Cyra for her assistance, if you need Priefert corral panels, be sure to reach out to West 20 Ranch & Saddle Company Their customer service can't be beat!

Corral Footing Installation at Horseriders' Campground, Palmyra WI

The DNR has completed upgrading all campsites with corrals, including the 18 corrals newly installed in 2025, with a $2000 Wisconsin Horse Council Trails Grant and SKMHTA funding the materials. The completed sites look amazing and are holding up well to use.  We do encourage visitors to properly clean their highline and corral areas, as leaving hay and manure is what leads to mud and poor footing.  Please help us maintain this hard work so we all can enjoy for years to come!

The SKMHTA is an organization of equine enthusiasts who promote, preserve, maintain & improve the bridle trails & equestrian campground in the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Our activities include volunteer support, charitable fundraising events, partnerships with the local DNR and community involvement. Proudly established in 2003, and becoming a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) in 2024, the SKMHTA continues to support and make lasting changes to the trails and Horseriders' Campground so generations to come may enjoy. Come join us in the fun of equestrian activities and enjoy the 54 miles of equestrian trails in the beautiful Southern Kettle Moraine.
